About DIY Cost Finder

DIY Cost Finder exists for one reason: home improvement cost information online is mostly garbage. It’s either a contractor’s marketing page dressed up as an article, or a content farm churning out templated filler that never actually tells you what something costs.

We do the opposite. Every guide on this site starts with real research — current material prices, labor rate ranges, and permit costs pulled from contractor pricing data and industry sources, not guesses. We show you real ranges instead of one suspiciously precise number, we tell you what actually moves the price up or down, and we tell you when a number is uncertain instead of pretending otherwise.

This site’s still new. I’m adding guides one at a time, and the goal is simple: give you real numbers instead of the vague “it depends” answers most sites hide behind.

How we make money: This site is supported by advertising and, where noted, affiliate links to retailers like Home Depot and Lowe’s — see our Affiliate Disclosure for details. That never changes the numbers we publish; our cost estimates are pulled from independent research, not from whoever pays us.

What we’re not: a substitute for an actual quote. Every guide on this site tells you to get two or three quotes from licensed local contractors before you budget a final number — costs vary by region, and no website can quote your specific job.
